Snapping beans

So Hannah and Bekah were helping us snap beans today. They were being great helpers. Hannah was even "walking" a bean around the rim of a bowl and then it would fall in and Bekah was absolutely cracking up!

A few months ago while I was pitching whiffle balls to Hannah and perhaps mistakenly taught her the old Little League chatter: "We want a pitcher not a belly itcher" Answered by "We want a batter not a broken ladder." So out of nowhere today she starts singing this while she's snapping beans. And I'm getting a huge kick out of it (Stephanie, not so much!).

While I'm enjoying her chatter, I start falling behind on my snipping duties and she's running out of beans to snap. And she makes up a new verse for the song: "We want a snipper not an itchy bitcher" (She was just rhyming, of course, she doesn't know that's a bad word).

I am on the floor laughing.

Summer fun

Not sure which of the girls enjoyed last week's trip to the kiddie pool more. Hannah was going down the slide and getting in the water up to her neck. Bekah was swimming around "like a shark." And Sophia was splashing and getting splashed and loving every second of it.

Sophia eats solids

So we figured out we're just as bad at blogging as we are at sending out pictures. Sorry everyone, but keep tuning in for more updates and pictures this week ... We're on a mission!

Here are two pictures of Sophia's first day eating real food. She absolutely loves just about everything. So far, she's had rice and oatmeal cereal, bananas, carrots, avacados, and applesauce. But mommy is pureeing more varieties soon, we've got mangoes already to go, we just picked fresh blueberries, and the garden veggies will be ready in about a week. Lucky Sophie!!

Sophia's Smile

Sophie has been smiling/laughing at Mike a ton lately, and it's adorable! He can get her to mimick his sounds and she does it with a huge grin. It happens every afternoon at around the same time. Our camera has been taking terrible pictures lately, so it's a little blurry ... I'm still working on it.

"Look at my boots!"

So I was a little busy with Sophie and cooking dinner, etc. one night. I get back into the kitchen and Bekah looks up at me with two oven mitts on her feet and says "Look at my boots!" in her sweet little voice. I never seem to catch these moments on camera, but I had to grab it this time.

First pair of glasses

Most of you know that Hannah is quite far-sighted, so here she is in her first pair of glasses. I think they might be a little dark, but we have a month to exchange the frames if we want to. She's been a good sport about wearing them, but doesn't always like to. They're already a little crooked ... she went to the Y with Daddy right after we got them ... the basketball won the fight. I can't tell how much better she's seeing, but we see the doc again in 2 weeks.

Sophia Clare's Baptism

Sophia Clare was baptized and welcomed into the church on Feb. 15th. She is blessed for many many reasons, but especially to have Aunt Ashley and Uncle Mark as her godparents. Also because tons of people from our family were there to support her ... Nathan came home from Colorado and Jackie, Scott, and the kids came from Maryland! Thanks to all the other family who were there as well. It was great to see everyone, and she's lucky to have you all. We didn't get the best pictures yet, but here is one at the church and one of her in the gown that has been worn by three generations now, starting with Grandma Becky.

Life at one month ...

Well, Sophia's already a month old! I know the time flies by, but wow it feels like no time at all. She had her check up yesterday ... all is good! She gained exactly one pound and grew an inch. She's picking her head up very well and is starting to smile a little (more voluntarily now!) ... but it's hard to catch those on camera, I'm working on it. :)

Cabin Fever!

It's starting to get cold again ... and the girls are very disappointed. They were loving playing outside for a change. This is them on their bikes. Hurry up Spring!!

First Day of Preschool

So, it's been a few weeks now, but Hannah just started preschool. Here's a picture from her first day -- she picked her favorite shirt and piggie tails. We thought she'd be afraid and not want to go, but we were wrong. While there have been a few rougher days, most of them she just says "see you later" and has a great time. She especially loves playing in the gym -- bikes and bowling. :)

"Can we scrub her?"

So mommy left for 45 minutes today to go to the store ... she calls and Daddy says, "we had a small mishap." Sophia spit up all over herself and her bed. She had to have a bath. Between Grandma Becky, Daddy, Hannah and Bekah, she was in very good hands. The girls wanted to help so bad, asking if they could scrub her! They're very good helpers right now. She was apparently a very good girl, and hardly cried the whole time. When I came home, she smelled great and was looking adorable in a pink headband (see picture in the next post).

Sophia Clare Goebel

Alright, so here are a few pics of her, by herself. Two from the first few hours, and one from today, right after her bath -- check out that hair! She's a whole week (and 2 days) old, and doing great! She even lets mommy sleep some nights for 4 hours at a time ... not too shabby.

Sophia meets big sisters

Here's a video that Grandma Becky took of the girls at the hospital. Very cute. Bekah is holding Sophia and Hannah is taking their picture on her camera. Priceless!

INTRODUCING ........

Sophia Clare! She came into this world on the coldest day in 13 years! She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. She has really thick, dark hair.

Hannah and Bekah are just loving her! They constantly want to hold her and enjoy helping with her any time they can. Here's a picture of the three of them at the hospital.

Mom and baby are home and resting comfortably.
We'll keep adding photos as there certainly will be plenty of cute ones in the coming weeks!
